Roy Race was brought up surrounded by football.

In he signed schoolboy forms for Melchester Rovers and, at sixteen, Roy made his first appearance for the club. He would go on to have the longest and most celebrated careers in world football.

He has a son, Roy, and two daughters, Melinda and Diana.
